§ Manifesto
The lab
is the proof.
Most AI companies sell a future they don't live in. They publish papers about agents while their own work is done by humans. They demo systems that don't survive contact with reality.
We took a different bet.
Slow Lit is being built to be operated by the agents we make. As Ember matures, more of our work moves to the agents we ship: research operations, support, writing, code review, hiring. When our models get better, our company gets better. When they fail, we feel it before any customer does.
This is not a marketing position. It is the only honest way to build agents that work.
§ What we believe
- 01
Build it. Use it. Then sell it.
The order matters. A product that hasn't survived its makers won't survive its users.
- 02
Small teams ship better models.
Talent density beats headcount. We hire people who have shipped, not people who have studied shipping.
- 03
Europe can build frontier AI.
The talent is here. The seriousness is here. What was missing was the willingness to act like it.
- 04
Agents are colleagues, not features.
An agent that runs for an hour and dies is a script. An agent that runs for a year and remembers is a coworker. We build the second kind.
§ What we are not
Not a chatbot company. Not an enterprise wrapper.
We are not building a foundation model to license to OpenAI customers.
We are a lab. We do research. We ship products. The two feed each other.
